How to Reheat Risotto in the Microwave?

A quick method for reheating risotto is to use the microwave.

Set microwave at medium.  Place risotto in a microwave safe bowl.  Add some white wine, broth or water.  Three tablespoons per cup of risotto would be perfect.  Place bowl inside microwave and cook for 4-5 minutes for it to simmer.  Check at every 30 second intervals and stir to ensure the risotto is heated through evenly.

As microwaving makes the food dry out, covering the dish with a damp paper towel will help to keep the risotto moist.  Be mindful not to overheat the risotto.  Check at intervals to ensure that the risotto is heated through evenly.

If you do not possess a microwave, then there are many other ways as given below, for heating up left over risotto successfully.

How to Reheat Risotto on Steamer?

Another ideal method to reheat risotto is to use a steamer.

Take risotto out of the fridge and transfer it to a heat resistant bowl.  Place it in the steamer.  Take a pan which fits the steamer.  Half fill it with water.  Ensure that the water will not reach bottom of steamer when it boils.  Place it on stove.  Place the steamer on the pan.  Cover the steamer and turn the stove on medium low.  Do not use high heat as it might dry up the risotto.  When the water boils, the steam will heat up the risotto.  Check on the risotto from time to time in order to ensure the risotto is heated through evenly.

Once it is heated evenly remove bowl from the steamer.  Adding wine or butter will enhance the flavor.  Mix evenly and serve hot.

Always remember to place the risotto in a heat proof bowl or plate, before placing it the steamer.

Use this method only if you have enough time to spare as it is time consuming.   If you are reheating a large quantity of risotto, this is a good method.
